    Kevin..

Sorry I did not see this post sooner. Great post. I actually wrote a blog about this earlier today at http://www.jimmyknight.com

    I miss Radio every day.

Great blog Jimmy! I tried to leave a comment, but you wouldn’t let me…. so I’ll leave it here.

When I think about where radio is heading it’s guys like you I feel really bad for. I had a great career… nearly 30 years, and I wouldn’t trade it (both the highs and the lows) for anything. Those incredible experiences made me who I am today. You never were able to enjoy the biz as much as I know you really wanted to.

I know how much you loved radio. We talked about it all the time! I know how much being on the radio meant to you, and it showed in what you brought to the listeners….even as a dumb kid. I remember those long discussions we had when you were in Amarrillo doing nights… they are etched into my mind for eternity.

I’m proud to have played a small part in your early career. Anybody who is willing to drive from Chicago to Bloomington for a weekend gig will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart! Oh… by the way… the call letters were WRXZ, not WRKZ. Thank goodness we never actually had to go by Roxy Radio like the boss wanted.

I know that you miss it, but you now have something in your life that matters much, much more… Zach! I never had kids, I didn’t want to put a child through what I went through… the vagabond life! Up until my job in Akron, I never lived anywhere longer than 2 1/2 years. I couldn’t do that to a child. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I ever made!

You may not have had the career that you hoped for, but as the next 18 years evolve, you’ll find that you have something that’s much more important….your son! And besides… you still have the music… that is when your Zune actually works!
